Project: National University Complex for Biomedical and Translational Research, project NUCBTR-BBMRI.bg
Research Division:
Description:
The National University Complex for Biomedical and Translational Research (NUCBTR) is an object of the National Roadmap for Scientific Infrastructure of Bulgaria. It includes the following structural units: 1) Center for Molecular Medicine, MU-Sofia, 2) departments of NIMU, MU-Plovdiv, 3) departments and laboratories in the two leading medical universities, and has been conducting research since 2010. The scientific research conducted at the NUCBAR is of great social importance for the health of the Bulgarian nation. The timely introduction of scientific achievements into the healthcare system and the introduction of the principles of precision medicine will guarantee the access to them for all those in need and will lead to a more optimal distribution of healthcare costs. Our national collections will form the “Genome of Europe”, and such a reference database for research and innovations in healthcare will help in the prevention and treatment of many diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. This research complex is committed to participating in BBMRI-ERIC - a European research infrastructure for biobank, which brings together researchers, biobanks, industry and patients to stimulate biomedical research and access and opportunity for new treatments.
Division “Innovative and diagnostic methods” participates in this project with collection and storage of biological materials (patients’ sera, immune cells, microorganisms, DNAs) for further research investigations. Collaborators – from Division of Molecular and Regenerative Medicine.
