The Division participates in 3 work packages of SRIPD-MUP:
1) Research group "Immune Imbalance and Deficiencies" focuses on innovative diagnostic methods for detecting inborn and acquired immune deficiencies; selection of immunological biomarkers related to the dysregulation of the immune response; algorithms for evaluating biomarkers in disease models; assessment of the clinical value for diagnosis, monitoring and prognosis of immune disorders.
Participants: Prof. Maryia Nikolova, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Ivan Ivanov (group leaders), Deyan Donchev, MD, Martina Bozhkova, MD, Stelyan Petrov, Teodora Kalfova
2) Research group "Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) by Multiparametric Flow Cytometry" focuses on early detection of MRD in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia for proper treatment of the disease and development of a highly sensitive flow cytometry method for detecting MRD and an algorithm for analyzing large volumes of data.
Participants: Prof. Margarita Genova, MD, PhD, (group leader), Prof. Hristo Taskov, MD, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. Hassan Burnusuzov, MD, PhD, Alexandra Baldzhieva-Hristova, MD, Dobrinka Dudova
3) Research group "New microbiological approaches for precise diagnosis and targeted therapy" is focused on tests in combination with biomarkers to distinguish the etiology of infections of the blood and CNS, respiratory, gastrointestinal and urogenital tracts; assessment of the effect of rapid syndromic testing in the selection of antimicrobial therapy; economic impact on total treatment costs and length of hospital stay; personalized microbiological diagnostics of infectious diseases.
Participants: Assoc. Prof. Michael Petrov, MD, PhD, (group leader), Yordan Kalchev, MD, PhD, Gergana Lengerova, MD, PhD, Andreana Angelova, MD
