The research group Neuropsychiatry and Brain Imaging is led by Stefan Borgwardt, Professor of Neuropsychiatry at the University of Basel. The group focuses on understanding psychiatric disorders (especially psychosis) from a biological perspective.

The group also investigates mechanisms of drug actions and novel treatment approaches such as microbiome modifications and hallucinogenic drugs for the treatment of affective disorders.

Among others, the methods used comprise functional and structural MRI, EEG, machine learning, meta-analyses, and imaging genetics. A description of our specific projects can be found below.
